  • Series: Ezra: Building the Urban Temple

The Bible is filled with stories of God's people being taken into captivity and God's working to save them from that captivity.  The book of Ezra is just such a story.  It is the record of God's people being released from their slavery, not only to freedom, but to a mission -- the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem.  This mission was utterly impossible for them to complete as they were.  They didn't have enough people, they didn't have the "stuff" for the temple, and they were weak.

At Grace Central, we too have been freed from something -- namely, slavery to sin and the wrath of God.  We too have been freed to a mission -- the spread of the Good News of Jesus throughout the city of Columbus, and like the ancient Israelites, we're utterly incapable of completing this on our own. Fortunately, when God calls his people to a mission, he always makes provision in the form of people, promises, and power.
